It is recommended that cleaning is done every 1-2 years, as the structure of the dust particles is such that over time they form a blanket over the electrical components, covering them like a soft duvet and keeping the heat in. If this layer of dust becomes even thicker, the heat accumulating under the dust simply cooks the chips and ICs. We have also seen cases where so much dust has been generated in the device that the dust particles under the finer covering layer have burned, become conductive and cause a motherboard short circuit. In this way, they completely destroyed the laptop.
